| INSTRUCTIONS FOR LEVELING A CONCAVE OR CONVEX LATHE BED |
| After mounting and bolting the lathe to a level bench or stand according to instructions, if its found that the lathe bed is bowed, it can be straightened as follows. | |
| If lathe bed is CONCAVE | |
| If lathe bed is
CONCAVE Place a thin metal shim under the inner ends of the lathe legs, both front and rear (see Figure 1). Check with a straight edge placed on top of the bed ways (see Figure 1), adding shims and tightening bolts until bed is straight. |

| If lathe bed is CONVEX
Place thin metal shims under the outer ends of the lathe legs, both front and rear (see Figure 2). Check with a straight edge placed on top of the bed ways (see Figure 2), adding shims and tightening bolts until bed is straight. |
